Working with Listing Pages

Listing pages display summary information about data records in each functional area. Listing Pages contain rows of data organised into columns. You can sort the rows of data by clicking on one of the column headings. From most listing pages, you can select an item to obtain more detailed information about it, modify it, or delete it.  You can also create items from listing pages.

Standard Versus Extended Listings

Listing pages show data, separated into columns, for a series of items.  The number of columns that can be shown in a listing page, without requiring you to scroll horizontally to see all listing data, is limited by the Screen Resolution to which your computer's monitor is set.

The columns used to represent the most essential information in any listing page are referred to as the "Standard" set of columns.  Standard listings are designed to fit inside the area of a monitor with a Screen Resolution setting of 800x600 or higher.

Users with larger monitors (or those that do not mind horizontal scrolling) can configure the system to display more columns of data in listing pages.  These "Extended" listings include the Standard columns, as well as additional columns providing more information as well as additional sort criteria.

The screen resolution is also used to determine the number of fields that are displayed in a row on the PO Detail Page.  You can view and/or modify your listing page display setting by changing the Page Display Settings: For Listviews in your user profile.

Listing Page Features

The following table describes how to perform the various actions available in listing pages. Not all actions are available in all listing pages, as indicated in the activity description.

Action

Description

Filter data

Some listing pages include a drop-down list at the top of the page that allows you to filter the data that appears in the view.

For example, the Show drop-down list on the Pending Transactions page, shown below, allows you to filter data that displays on the page.

Depending on your security rights and whether your organisation has subsidiaries or branches, available selections in the Show list might include My Work, Work for My Organisation, or All Work. Other pages that have data filters include Authorised Transactions, Instrument History, and the Reference Data area.

Sort data

A red arrow ( or ) next to a column indicates that the listing page data is sorted by that column heading in ascending () or descending () order. You can click any column heading to sort listing page data by that column heading.

For example, when you click the Instrument Type column heading in the Pending Transactions listing page, the rows are re-sorted by instrument type in ascending order, and the column heading redisplays as Instrument Type with a next to the heading. You can re-sort in descending instrument type order by clicking on the column heading again, or you can click on any other column heading to re-sort by that column heading. The default sorting of listing pages is by the left-most column heading in ascending order.

Refresh data on the page

Click the button to refresh the listing page to reflect changes that occurred since the last time the page was loaded.

Create an item

Listing pages usually include a button for creating an appropriate item directly from the listing page.

For example, the Pending Transactions listing page includes the button.

Display detailed information about an item

In most listing pages the first column provides a hyperlink to details about the item. For example, from the Pending Transactions listing page, you can click on an item's instrument ID in the first column to display the Instrument Summary page.

Note:  Search pages, such as the Instrument Search, Address Book Search, and Template Search pages, do not provide hyperlinks to details for items in the listing page.

Act on multiple items

Some listing pages allow you to select multiple rows of data and perform actions on all selected items at once. On the Pending Transactions page, you can select multiple transactions and either authorise, delete, or route all selected transactions.

To select multiple items, click on the checkbox to the left of each row so that the checkbox contains a checkmark. You can then click on one of the buttons at the bottom of the listing page to perform the desired action on the selected items.

View the number
of list page items, or display more list page items

The number of items displayed on the page and the total number of items available for display is provided in the Results area at the bottom of each listing page.

If all rows of data do not fit on one listing page, a drop-down list displays in the Results area. You can select the page number that you want to display, or click on the Next hypertext link to display the next page of results in relation to the currently displayed page.
