This help topic provides a brief guide to using this online help system to support your use of the Trade Services system. This topic covers the following sections:
When you access online help by clicking on the Help button in the Trade Services system, a new browser window opens containing the help navigation panel in the left side of the window and the topic area (with the Help Home page topic) in the right side. This is most likely the way you are now viewing this online help topic.
The navigation panel provides a Contents and Index tab that allow you to navigate more easily through the help topics. A different topic displays in the topic area when you click on a topic title in either the Contents or Index tabs, or when you click on a topic hypertext link in a topic displayed in the topic area. You can hide the navigation panel by holding down the left mouse button and sliding to the left the separator line between the navigation panel and the topic area.
The Help Home page is the initial topic that displays in the topic area and provides a "home base" for viewing topics in the online help system. You can always return to the Help Home page by clicking on Help Home at the top of every topic in the help system.
The online help system includes the following different types of help topics:
Conceptual topics - Provide overview information about an area of the system. For example, What is the Trade Services System?, Messages Overview, or Working with Instruments. You can access conceptual topics from the Contents and Index tabs in the navigation panel and from hypertext links within other help topics.
Procedural topics - Provide step-by-step instructions for performing a task in the Trade Services system. For example, Creating Transactions, Viewing Your User Profile, or Routing Messages. You can access procedural topics from the Contents and Index tabs in the navigation panel and from hypertext links within other help topics.
Page help topics - Provide a description of the current page or section in the Trade Services system, followed by a description of each field or control on the page or section. For example, Issue Import Letter of Credit, Pending Transactions, and Mail. You can access page help by clicking on the icon that appears at the top of every page and page section. You can also access page help topics from the Index tab and from hypertext links within other help topics.
Note: When you access a page help topic by clicking on the icon in the system, the navigation panel does not display.
The following table describes how to perform the various actions available in the help system.

Browse through a section of help topics |
Press the Next Topic or Previous Topic link in the top right-hand corner of the topic area. These links display only when there are multiple help topics in a section of help topics, as organised under the Contents tab of the navigation panel. For example, you can use the Next Topic link at the top of the Messages Overview topic to browse through all of the topics in the Messages Procedures section of online help. |
Display a topic related to the current topic |
Click on one of the links listed under Related Topics at the end of the help topic or help topic section. Related topics are also hyperlinked from within the text of help topics, as appropriate. |
Return to a the last topic you viewed |
Press your help browser's Back button until the topic is displayed. |
Display the definition of a glossary term referenced in the current topic |
Click on the glossary hypertext link, which display the first time a glossary term is referenced within each help topic or topic section. Glossary term hypertext links are indicated by blue italic text. After you click on a glossary hypertext link, use your help browser's Back button to redisplay the original help topic. |
Display the entire Glossary |
Press the Glossary button in the top right-hand corner of the topic area, or click on Glossary in the Contents or Index tabs. |
Display a figure |
Click on the image link (See an example of ...). After you click on an image hypertext link, use your help browser's Back button to redisplay the original help topic. |
Exit Help |
Click on the Exit Help button in the top right-hand corner of the topic area, or close the help browser window. |
Search the help system |
Internet Explorer:Click on the Index tab in the help navigation panel, then choose Find (on This Page)... or Find from the Edit menu. Enter the text you want to find into the text area of the dialog box that displays, then press Find Next or Find. Netscape: Choose Find in Frame from the Edit menu. Enter the text you want to find into the text area of the dialog box that displays, then press Find. For both Internet Explorer and Netscape, the first occurrence of the text string you searched for appears highlighted in the Index tab. Click on the text to display the associated topic in the topic area. To continue searching for successive occurrences, press CTRL+F (Internet Explorer) or CTRL+G (Netscape). |
Print a help topic |
Internet Explorer: Click anywhere inside the topic area, then choose Print from the File menu to display the Print dialog box. Netscape: Click inside the topic area, then choose Print Frame from the File menu to display the Print dialog box. |
