System Organisation

The Trade Services system is organised into functional areas, pages, and page controls.

Functional Areas

The Trade Services system includes the following functional areas:

Each functional area enables you to perform different tasks in the application. For example, the Messages area allows you to create, maintain, and view trade-related messages; the Instruments area allows you to create, amend, delete, and authorize all types of transactions. When you are working within a functional area, you have access to all other functional areas through a navigation bar that appears at the top of every primary page.

Note:      Depending on your security rights within the system, you might not have access to all functional areas of the system.

Pages

You interface with the Trade Services system through screens, or pages, of information. These pages collect your transaction information and display information to you about your trade transactions. The system includes the following types of pages:

Page Controls

All pages in the system have fields and controls that allow you to navigate through the application and record trade-related data. Text boxes, buttons, and drop-down lists are examples of controls you will find on each page.

Some page controls are general, or common, to most pages in the application, while other controls are specific to each type of page. You can learn about general page controls and how to use them in the Working with Page Controls topic; page controls specific to a certain type of page are described in the appropriate related topics listed below.
